Lt. Christopher Hunter will have a baseball field dedicated in his name at Memorial Field in Cinnaminson on Saturday, April 7. The ceremony will also dedicate another field to fallen New Jersey State Trooper Sean Cullen. April 7 is Opening Day for the Cinnaminson Baseball in-town teams. There will be a large gathering of players, coaches, parents and umpires joining the families of Lt. Hunter and Trooper Cullen.
"For those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of others, we are grateful," Cinnaminson Mayor Howard 'Bud' Evans (Public Safety & Veterans Affairs Liaison) said.
"Cinnaminson has known such sacrifice and honors those who have given all. Let these monuments dedicated to these missed souls be a reminder to all of how they lived. For those left behind, I hope you find some solace when you come here and realize you do not mourn alone. Cinnaminson remembers our own; your sacrifice will not be forgotten. We are Cinnaminson strong."
The two fields that are being dedicated to the township's two fallen heroes, both of whom died in the line of duty, were recently renovated and upgraded. Field #4 will be dedicated to Lt. Hunter and Field #6 will be dedicated to Trooper Cullen.
"The dedication of two upgraded baseball fields at Memorial Park in honor of our fallen first responders seemed like a very easy but appropriate setting for such a dedication," Deputy Mayor (Parks & Rec Liaison) Don Brauckmann said.
"Memorial Park is, in fact, named in honor of those who have lost their lives in the service of our country. This park also features Memorial Hill, as well as Memorial Walk, where many of our residents have dedicated personalized bricks in loved ones' memories, so what a perfect setting to dedicate two baseball fields in honor of our fallen."
Be sure to check back later in April for a recap of the day's events, including photos and videos of the dedication ceremony for Lt. Hunter.
